Why be there live

You can catch the replay any time. The community only happens live.

Most "daily cyber news" is a one-way broadcast. The Daily Cyber Threat Brief is a daily room with 400+ practitioners reacting in real time. That is the part you cannot get from a podcast feed.

01 / Real-time chat

React as the news breaks.

400+ practitioners are in the chat the moment a story drops. You see the SOC angle, the CISO angle, and the "wait, is that real?" angle in the same minute. The replay does not come with that.

02 / Ask Gerald live

Get your question on air.

Drop your question in chat and Gerald reads it back, often before the segment ends. The fastest peer review of your gut take you will get all day.

03 / Build your network

Find your people.

Cybersecurity is a network business. The chat is full of analysts, threat hunters, and CISOs who show up every day and recognize each other. Show up a few times and you are a regular. That is how careers move.

The fastest way to start showing up live: add the recurring weekday event to your calendar.

FAQ

Common questions.

What is the Daily Cyber Threat Brief?
A 60-minute live cybersecurity news show that covers the most important threats, breaches, vulnerabilities and trends from the previous 24 hours. Hosted by Dr. Gerald Auger every weekday at 5am PT / 8am ET on YouTube, free to watch live or on replay. The show won the 2024 SANS Difference Makers Award for Podcast of the Year.
When does it go live?
Every Monday through Friday at 5am Pacific / 8am Eastern / 13:00 UTC. The show runs for 60 minutes. Add it to your calendar with any of the buttons on this page and you will have a recurring reminder every weekday morning.
Is it really free?
Yes. There is no signup, no paywall, no subscription. The show is sponsor-supported and built as a service to the cybersecurity community. The replay is always free. The transcripts are always free. The chat is always free.
Can I watch the replay if I miss it live?
Always. Every episode is on YouTube the moment the live show ends, and the audio is published to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and every major podcast platform later the same morning. That said: the live audience and the chat are the part you cannot get back later. Most regulars show up live precisely because of that.
How is this different from CyberWire, StormCast, or other daily cyber news shows?
Three things. First, the Daily Cyber Threat Brief is live — every other major daily cyber news source is prerecorded. Second, it is 60 minutes of expert analysis, not five minutes of headlines, so you actually leave with a take on what matters and what to do. Third, the chat is a real, named community of practitioners who show up every day and know each other, which is something a podcast feed cannot give you.
Who is the show for?
Working cybersecurity practitioners — SOC analysts, threat intel teams, incident responders, security engineers, GRC professionals, and CISOs. The show assumes you know the field and respects your time. Practitioners new to cyber are welcome too; the chat is famously friendly to newcomers.
How do I add the show to my calendar?
Click any "Add to calendar" button on this page. You will get a recurring weekday event at 8am ET / 5am PT in your calendar of choice (Google, Apple, Outlook, Office 365, or Yahoo). The event includes the live YouTube link so you can launch straight from your calendar reminder.
How do I sponsor the show?
Email Gerald directly at gerald@simplycyber.io. Sponsorship is sold in monthly increments and is selective — the audience is practitioners and we protect their trust.

See you at 8am ET tomorrow.

Add the recurring weekday event once. Show up. Stay caught up. Build your network. That is the whole pitch.
